"I started working with Becca as my Cypriot rescue dog Debbie wasn't settling in to London life as well as I'd hoped. Her reactivity to people and especially other dogs was only getting worse, and even getting her out the front door without a mad panic was becoming impossible. Becca worked with us to devise a realistic training plan, and she has been so committed to helping us work through it. A few months down the line, and we have made huge progress - and the terrified dog who I thought would never be able to go off-lead is now happily playing in the park with a tennis ball every morning! At times it's been quite a stressful journey, and Becca has been so supportive throughout - I often think that the training is more for me than Debbie! It's been such a huge confidence boost having Becca on our side, and her calm, friendly and flexible approach has been exactly what we needed. Thanks Becca, for all your help so far!"
Emma, Will & Bear
"We were having a nightmare teaching our dog how to be alone in the house - he couldn’t be left for even a few minutes without barking and howling constantly for hours. We felt like we’d tried everything without much success, but Becca gave us some really straightforward, practical training to help resolve the problem. She made sure it fitted into our lives, was quick to adapt it whenever we hit any bumps in the road, and was calm and helpful throughout. We’ve still got some work to do, but we’re now consistently leaving Bear alone for 20 minutes at a time, and working our way up from there - which seemed unimaginable at the beginning. Thanks Becca, you worked magic on our dog."
Sophie & Buddy
"Finding a behaviourist can be challenging. So many trainers with varying qualifications call themselves behaviourists when perhaps they don't have the intricate knowledge and years of education that Becca has. You can spend hours oftime and hundreds of pounds only to find you don't make progress because the programme isn't tailored to your dog's specific needs.
Working with Becca has been a breath of fresh air. We were feeling hopeless with our terrier, Buddy. His anxiety had hit peak point and we'd tried everything we could think of. Becca gave us a programme to follow, from routine changes to techniques for when we're on walks, and we began to see improvements within a matter of days. Becca showed us that, though it wouldn't be a quick fix and would take effort, these behaviours could be changed and our lovely dog's happiness could be improved.
Having a programme to follow made everything feel achievable. All of the suggestions that came from Becca felt do-able and were tailored to our dog's specific behaviour. We'd worked with non-APBC trainers before and had been given generic advice, so working with a behaviourist like Becca was instantly beneficial as she had years ofexperience and mountains ofknowledge from her education to call on.
I'd recommend Becca. I feel as though Becca can help support a variety of cases and give you however much time you'd like and need. Becca offered us a programme to follow and all the tips we needed. It was at our request that we continued to have her support in practical sessions. She's flexible with her time and you can tell she loves dogs with a passion.
You may have read the books, done the puppy classes and owned dozens of dogs before, but nothing can compare to having an educated, experienced professional help you work out a behaviour plan. I can't recommend working with Becca highly enough and though our case is complicated, I have no doubt she'd be just as beneficial for puppy training as she is for our nervous, rehomed dog."
Maria & Nellie
"Becca helped us immensely with our retired greyhound Nellie. She was an anxious doggie and with Becca's help and support, Nellie is now not only able to be left at home on her own, but seems to also enjoy it. Becca's qualified expertise but also calm manner and love for dogs were very obvious to me and my partner from the first few minutes of our first consultation. Over the last few months Becca has not only helped us learn to deal with Nellie's anxious nature, but also greatly reduced our own worries for our pet's wellbeing."
Matt & Whisky
“Becca has been brilliant with helping us train Whisky. We bought Whisky as a puppy and had never looked after a dog before. Becca has helped us since Whisky was 10 weeks old, showing us all of the tips and tricks needed to train Whisky into being a relaxed and well behaved dog. Becca’s style of training is all positive reinforcement and this worked really well with Whisky. We also liked that Becca’s style of training isn’t about strict obedience, but it’s about letting Whisky’s character shine through with him being a happy dog who is able to respond to commands. We love having Becca on board and if we need more help going forward with specific issues, we’ll definitely be going back for her help”.
Harriet & Margot
"Becca helped my one year old Miniature Dachshund Margot tremendously. Margot was suffering from Separation Anxiety and Becca's calm nature and reassurance really gave me the hope that we could overcome the problem - after I thought I'd tried everything! After a couple of sessions (several panicked emails from me!) and a few weeks following the training plan Margot is now calm to be left at home - something which I was starting to feel was impossible! Thank you Becca!"
"Becca was absolutely brilliant in coaching me through how to deal with some of my dogs behavioural issues. She was very quick to identify the problem and come up with solutions using positive reinforcement. Her calm nature and and approach made it a really pleasant experience and easy to follow guidance.
Firstly Becca met myself and my dog in our home to go through a few details regarding his behaviour and background and the goals that I wanted to achieve with him. We then took to carrying out small excersises to get me used to the way in which i should be be approaching the training. I didn't hesitate to ask as many questions as I could think of and Becca was more than happy to go through everything as much as I needed to.
After our first session myself and my dog had two more sessions with Becca, taking the training on to the streets and in to the park where I was helped and guided even further. (It's one thing someone telling you and another thing showing you, which was fantastic). I continued the training by myself - maybe one or two short sessions a day but then found myself, with the knowledge Becca had given me, to be able to use the training methods every time we both stepped outside the house together.
Becca was amazing when it came to staying in contact and checking on my progress of my dogs behaviour. I sometimes find trainers will do their job and then you'll lose contact but Becca truly cares about your progress and has stayed in contact- which I really think is key to having the best you can get from a behaviourist.
Over all Becca has given me the confidence I now need to continue training with my dog, who has already made such a drastic improvement with his behaviour than when myself and Becca first met a few months back. Couldn't recommend her more highly. Thanks so much!!!!"
Zee & Django
After a puppy settling session, Zee shared that Django "seems to be fine on his own now, we give him a frozen Kong and he seems to just chill in his basket".
Katie, Andrew & Marley
"We went to Becca with our rescue dog, Marley, who is reactive around other dogs, and after a bite incident we knew we needed help with managing and changing his behaviour. Becca spent the first session learning all about Marley and giving us some simple training tips to practice. We then had more practical follow up sessions in the park, looking at implementing them in real life situations. Becca taught us about Marley’s body language and signals, and what to look for when he is exhibiting signs of stress or anxiety. We now know better how to manage the situation when we encounter other dogs (and their not always helpful owners!) and how to associate the experience more positively in Marley’s mind. Over the weeks he has improved and generally is much less stressed around other dogs; it’s a long road, and I don’t think he’ll ever really love other dogs, but with Becca’s assistance I think we are making his life happier and less worried."
